The first Chinese train on the way to Tehran
The head of the Tehran City Council, regarding the arrival of Chinese wagons in the country following the technical approval from the Ministry of Interior, stated: “This week, a team will travel to China for the final testing of the first manufactured wagon. With the technical approval of this wagon, the first train set will be constructed in about 7 months, which will be around the beginning of winter, allowing for its shipment to the country.”
Mehdi Chamran, in his press conference today, mentioned that the Chinese side requires more time for construction; however, according to the contract that was signed, they had 14 months, which started last year, and we hope they can deliver the wagons on time. He also discussed the construction of a tram in Tehran, stating: “Without a doubt, we want the best for the people of Tehran, and this tram will operate on rubber wheels like a three-cabin bus.
In China, they even operate without a driver and in an intelligent manner, which I have seen in videos; however, currently, due to the conditions in our country, utilizing a driverless tram is somewhat challenging, so it will have a driver for now.
If it proves to be effective and cost-efficient, we can consider using it.” The head of the Tehran City Council added: “For now, the best route for the tram is Tehranpars, where it is possible for two and three-cabin buses to operate.” Regarding the arrival of new buses in the country, he mentioned: “I cannot provide specific details about the number and timing, as these matters depend on many conditions, but a contract has been signed, and we hope they will deliver the buses to us as soon as possible. Undoubtedly, once they start shipping, this process will continue rapidly.”
